Anyone know if you can change a par-tic-u-lar bit in windows (xp)? what bit? glad you asked.

Application Focus! I want to be able to click in the ‘work’ area of a window, and not move it’s window to the top. I only want windows to be the top application when i click on their title bar/alt tab to them. this is one of 5 linux features i can’t live without, and workey workey is done on windows. i frequently need to get information out of one window and type it into an artifact bit of software called the mainframe. it doesn’t like the cut and paste in many ways. I need Webby/Excel/Whatever to stay ON TOP, while I type my input into the mainframe.

I know a iffy solution. Get a program to help me flag applications “always on top” but… that’s a little more aggressive than I’m going for. temporarily permanent. The linux way is smoother. I can alt tab and windows move to the top, i can clicky the work area and do things and my windows don’t really move.

Anyone? Anyone? *sighs*

Crap.

Dear Santa,

I realize it’s a little late for this, but hey, it never hurts. For Christmas, I’d like a ThinkPad W700 17.0″ widescreen for Professionals, rice it please. I understand that the economy is shot, so I could make due with a new hard drive<del datetime="2009-02-09T18:45:11+00:00"> and a new CD/DVD burner for my existing laptop</del>.

Also, if you happen to have an extra one, I’ll take a Canon EOS v1. Not too many people using film any more, so I thought you might have one getting dusty somewhere.

Thanks,

this bit about zunes turning off and not starting again makes me sad.

Word on the street is that 30GB Zunes are shutting down around the world en masse as they hit midnight on December 31st. … [A] panicked owner says, “Yup, stuck on 100% but it’s out of warranty. What do i do?

SAD!

Sad that my palm m515 that isn’t supported anymore.

Sad that my slightly less old and STILL AMAZING (all caps!) casio p505 (Link to PDF) isn’t supported. there are a few features it is missing from other exlim models before its time, and some things that need tweaking.

if an electronics manufacturer decides to stop supporting a product, they should HAVE to give it up. allow us to continue to make electronics useful, not wasteful. there are many fine examples of the fine things consumers can do. you’ll only gain loyality, guys. your products will only become better, and more popular.
